Welding & Plasma Coolant Comparison Chart
Every coolant we sell is ready to use, straight from the jug. The choice comes down to two things: the coldest temperature your cooling system will ever see, and whether you want a coolant with no ethylene glycol in it.

Quick pick: the coldest your system will get
Go by the coldest the coolant will ever sit at, including overnight and in storage, not just while you are working.
Side-by-side comparison
| Coolant | Base | Freeze protection to | Conductivity | Safety (from SDS) | Designed for | Choose it for | Shop |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cantesco® CF1 Regular |
Ethylene glycol + deionized water + corrosion inhibitor | +19 °F / −7 °C | ≤ 3.0 µS | Warning — harmful if swallowed; kidney damage with repeated exposure | Plasma, MIG, TIG, resistance welding | Systems that never drop below +19 °F / −7 °C. | 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
ABICOR Binzel® ABI-CoolECO |
Propylene glycol + deionized water, inhibited | +10 °F / −12 °C | Low (no µS figure published) | Not classified as hazardous; non-toxic | Water-cooled welding torches | No ethylene glycol, rated non-toxic, for areas where people may contact the coolant. Lower viscosity, so the pump works less. | 4 × 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
Cantesco® CFPG |
Propylene glycol + deionized water + corrosion inhibitor; no ethylene glycol | +10 °F / −12 °C | ≤ 3.0 µS | Not classified as hazardous | Plasma, MIG, TIG, resistance welding | No ethylene glycol, for plasma and welding systems down to +10 °F / −12 °C. | 4 × 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
ABICOR Binzel® BTC-15 |
Low-conductivity coolant (base not published) | +10 °F / −12 °C | < 4 µS | SDS on request | Water-cooled welding and cutting systems | Low-conductivity coolant for systems down to +10 °F / −12 °C. | 5 L |
Cantesco® CF2 Mid |
Ethylene glycol + deionized water + corrosion inhibitor | +6 °F / −14 °C | ≤ 3.0 µS | Warning — harmful if swallowed; kidney damage with repeated exposure | Plasma, MIG, TIG, resistance welding | Systems that can drop to +6 °F / −14 °C. | 4 × 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
Cantesco® CF3 Low |
Ethylene glycol + deionized water + corrosion inhibitor | −32 °F / −35 °C | ≤ 3.0 µS | Warning — harmful if swallowed; kidney damage with repeated exposure | Plasma, MIG, TIG, resistance welding | Systems that can drop to −32 °F / −35 °C. | 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
ABICOR Binzel® ABI-Cool |
Ethylene glycol + deionized water, inhibited | −32 °F / −35 °C | Low (no µS figure published) | Warning — harmful if swallowed; causes eye irritation | Water-cooled welding torches | Ethylene glycol protection to −32 °F / −35 °C for water-cooled MIG torches. Lower viscosity, so the pump works less. | 4 × 1 gal · 5 gal · 55 gal |
ABICOR Binzel® BTC-50 NF |
Ethylene glycol + filtered, treated water | −49 °F / −45 °C | < 4 µS | Warning — may cause organ damage with prolonged or repeated exposure | All water-cooled welding and cutting systems | Outdoor work and equipment shipped or stored below freezing. What the differences mean
Ethylene glycol vs. propylene glycol
The Cantesco® CF range uses ethylene glycol and covers the widest temperature range, down to −60 °F / −52 °C. Its Safety Data Sheets carry a warning: harmful if swallowed. ABI-CoolECO and CFPG use propylene glycol and are not classified as hazardous. ABICOR Binzel® rates ABI-CoolECO as non-toxic and safe where people may come in contact with the coolant. The trade-off: both propylene glycol coolants protect only to +10 °F / −12 °C. For colder systems, ABICOR Binzel® ABI-Cool (to −32 °F / −35 °C) and BTC-50 NF (to −49 °F / −45 °C) are ethylene glycol coolants.
Why low conductivity matters
Coolant runs right past live electrical parts in the torch. A low-conductivity coolant reduces electrical (galvanic) corrosion of torch necks and the risk of voltage leaks. Cantesco® tests its cooling fluids at 3.0 µS or less. ABICOR Binzel® rates BTC-50 NF and BTC-15 below 4 µS.
Why not just water?
Plain water corrodes the cooling system over time and freezes at 32 °F / 0 °C. Every coolant here is a blend of deionized water, glycol and a corrosion inhibitor that protects the pump, radiator and metal parts of a recirculating system.
