Tomahawk Owners: Change the Torch, Change What You Feed It

You came here looking for consumables for a Tomahawk. Before you buy another set, there's a better question: why are you locked to that stack at all?

The torch decides the parts

A plasma machine doesn't choose your consumables. The torch does.

That's the whole game, and most shops never think about it because the torch that arrived on the machine is the only torch they've ever considered. It wears out, they replace it with the same thing, and the parts bill stays exactly where it's always been.

But a torch is a replaceable component. And if you're going to replace it anyway — because it's worn, because a torch is a wear item on a long clock — then the replacement you choose sets what you buy for the rest of that machine's life.

What we sell for the TH1538

Two Thermacut® torches that fit the Tomahawk TH1538:

T-13184 — hand torch T-13185 — machine torch

Both are real Thermacut product, not adapters or conversion kits. Priced in Canadian dollars, shipped from Canada.

And here's the part that matters more than the torch itself.

They take consumables compatible with Duramax® torches

Fit one of these and your machine takes Thermacut® consumables compatible with Hypertherm® Duramax® torches — the same shield, retaining cap, nozzle, swirl ring and electrode set that fits a Powermax® 65, 85 and 105.

To be precise about what that means, because it matters: we do not sell genuine Hypertherm® Duramax® consumables. We sell Thermacut® direct-replacement consumables compatible with Duramax® torches. Thermacut® is an independent manufacturer; the Duramax® name identifies what the parts fit, not who made them.

That compatibility is what the swap buys you, and it's worth real money for three concrete reasons.

One set of parts to inventory. If anything else in your shop is a Powermax® 65, 85 or 105, that machine and this one now take the same Thermacut® consumables — so you stock one set instead of two. Fewer part numbers on the shelf, fewer wrong orders, less cash sitting in a drawer.

Availability. Duramax® torches are the most widely used in air plasma, so aftermarket coverage for them is the deepest in the market. You're not waiting on a specialty order for a torch almost nobody makes parts for.

Price. Where aftermarket competition is deepest, pricing reflects it. That's simply how parts markets work.

The math worth doing

A torch is a real purchase. So do the arithmetic before you decide.

Take what you spend on consumables in a year — actual spend, not a guess — and compare it against the Thermacut® parts in our finder for the amperage you run. Then put the torch cost against the difference.

If you burn through consumables at any volume, that payback is shorter than most shops expect. If you cut twice a month, it probably isn't worth it, and we'd rather you worked that out now than after you've bought a torch.

That's a calculation you can do in ten minutes with our finder and your own purchase history. We're not going to do it for you and call it a promise.

What to check before you order

Hand or machine. Two different torches at two different prices. The machine version mounts to a tube and has no trigger — obvious in the shop, less obvious on an order form.

Your amperage. Not the machine's maximum — the amperage you actually run for the work you do. That's what picks the stack.

Lead length. Measure from where the torch lives to where the machine sits, and add slack for how the lead actually routes.

Pack quantity. Some consumables ship in five-packs. Our titles carry the quantity; check it before you compare any price against anything.

Then the finder does the rest

Once you're on that torch, ordering stops being a research project. Pick the torch family, pick hand or machine, pick your amperage, and you get the complete stack in torch assembly order with the OEM cross-reference against each part.
